Knowledge is power!

Hi everyone! As you can see this blog is a work in progress. About a year ago I discovered I had a passion for aromatherapy and essential oils. I was diagnosed of autoimmune liver disease when i was 18 and the effects of the medication has taken its toll on my body aswell as the effects of the disease. I needed more of a natural approach to ease my symptoms and discovered that essential oils was beneficial. I did a course in aromatherapy but there is that much to do with essential ois and aromatherapy i have barely tapped the surface. This blog is to post about what oils I have used and the experience I received from using them. Information about essential oils and benefits, recipes I have made and ideas and to promote some of my favourite oils and products. There will be links to the websites where i have purchased essential oils and other aromatherapy products. Please feel free to give me your own knowledge and expertise as there’s always something new to learn! 😁

Let’s learn!

Clove oil

So! I had a wisdom tooth coming through, we all known how painful they can be. After taking many pain killers to which I had reached my limit of the day otherwise overdosing lol, I decided to give clove oil a try. WOW! Worked a treat! Eased the throbbing I had until I could get to the dentist which felt like forever by the way haha! Anyway I mixed up a blend consisting of 2-3 drops of clove oil and a teaspoon of olive oil in a little dish..I then dipped a cotton bud into the mixture to dilute it and rubbed the cotton bud on the affected tooth and within seconds it number the ache.  However the taste wasn’t the best so gargled with a little salt water (which is also horrible) but it’s worth it trust me! You can also rub it onto the side of your outer jaw..make sure it’s mixed with carrier oil remember!

Now a little info on the essential oil itself..it is native to south east asia and used in china during the Han dynasty in the third century BC as a breath sweetener  as well as the relief of toothache it is known and extensively used by the Romans. Clove is both an antiseptic and anaesthetic. It also calms acne and helps to reduce inflammation and fight the bacteria that causes acne.  It can treat warts too.  With its relaxing comforting aroma, it can reduce anxiety and enhance focus.

It should be however used with caution as it is a very powerful oil and should not be used as a massage oil as it can be highly irritating to the skin and should be avoided during pregnancy. It should not be used on children under seven years old or damaged skin. Check out this very beneficial oil here:

Lavender!

lavender is the most versatile of the essential oils. It has been used during the second world war  as antiseptic by rubbing it on the affected area. Lavender soothes skin and can ease burns, acne, eczema and bites and stings. It has analgesic properties which eases muscle pain and menstrual cramps. It also promotes sleep and helps reduce stress and anxiety.  A great blend I find to be beneficial, especially if my muscle pain flares up is a bath oil consisting of 8-12 drops of lavender essential oil to one tablespoon of carrier oil (I like almond oil as I have dry skin) and that is it! Simple yet effective, great blend for beginners..hence why I’ve tried it 😊

Anxiety😒

Anxiety is something I have suffered with for many years. Sometime in so adgitaed I just want to scream. I did take medication to help but as with any medication there can be side effects. Although there are contra-indications to essential oils, I feel that they are much better on your body than prescription pills. I have found that using an essential oil diffuser helps my anxiety. Barefut.com has great essential oils and the anxiety blend I’ve found really helps me relax when put into my diffuser. This blend is mixed with bergamot, frankincense, lavender and ylang ylang. These oils are not approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
